Make your proposal win at the Dutch Postcode Lottery.

Want to win big with the Postcode Loterij?
Learn how to secure funding from one of the world’s most popular donor. What makes them so attractive to many of you? The Postcode Lottery is:

  • one of the largest private donors in the world! And the grants they provide are all large as well.
  • using the principles of Trust-Based Philanthropy, making the donations extremely flexible.
  • a very accessible donor. Making it very well possible to get to know them before you decide to apply.

But – it is also a donor with a low success rate for possible new grantees., and many do not apply – even though they might have a good chance on winning!

That is why we have created an in-depth track. This training will help you to assess your chances better and increase the quality of your proposal.

This training-track reveals how the lottery works: how to position your organization, build a compelling case, and avoid common mistakes.
Boost your knowledge, confidence — and your chances.

Because getting funding isn’t luck — it’s strategy.

In-Depth Proposal Writing Track (online edition)

Dutch This track is designed to help you develop a high-quality, funder-ready proposal that you can use for the Postcode Lottery — and for other major donors as well.

What’s included:

  • 2 in-depth training sessions (online)

  • Postcode Loterij funding database, with funding information since 2016.
  • Practical proposal template

  • Professional review grid

  • A “Writing Winning Proposals” handbook
  • One-on-one session per organization for tailored support

Everything you need to move from idea to a strong, convincing proposal.

Session 1 – From idea to strong proposal idea

Date: Wednesday June 10th, 2026
Time:
2.30pm – 5.00pm (CET)
Location:
Online

Focus: What strong applications have in common

  • Key lessons from successful proposals

  • Guided exercise: what elements make a proposal fundable?

  • Guided exercise: drafting a proposal structure tailored to your organization

What you’ll take home:
At the end of Session 1, you will receive HVFC’s Postcode Loterij funding database and proposal template. This template is based on our experience with winning proposals, especially for this donor. The template helps you structure your application clearly and address all the elements donors look for.

Homework (between Day 1 and Day 2):
Draft your first version of the proposal using the template.
If you have a previously rejected application, you can use that instead — we’ll help you strengthen it and improve your chances in a next round.

Session 2 – From idea to a solid first draft

Date: Wednesday July 1st, 2026
Time: 2.30pm – 5.00pm (CET)
Location: Online

Focus: Reviewing your proposal through the donor’s eyes
In this session, we work on increasing the quality of your proposal by applying a professional review method. You’ll learn to assess proposals from a donor perspective and spot exactly where improvements are needed.

  • Creating and using a review grid to assess proposal quality

  • Peer review exercise: analyze and strengthen another participant’s draft

  • Group feedback and discussion to sharpen insights and improve proposals

Outcome:
A deeper understanding of what works with major donors such as the Dutch Postcode Loterij — and a refined draft proposal that’s ready for further development and submission.
